What will a host do with a broadcast frame (FF:FF:FF:FF:FF:FF) addressed to it?

Process the frame.

Broadcast frames are sent to every device on the local Ethernet segment. When a host receives such a frame, its network interface card accepts it and passes the frame up to the operating system for processing, since the frame is intended for all devices. It does not discard it, and it does not forward it to the router; routers don’t forward standard Ethernet broadcasts between networks. In practice, the host will examine the payload (for example, an ARP request or other broadcast-driven activity) and respond if appropriate.

Discard the frame.

Forward to the router.

Forward to all other hosts.
